Our diverse research group includes work to protect tomato agrodiversity in ex-situ seed and living greenhouse collections.  Our collaborators also have programmes to characterise the agronomic attributes and potential of different tomato varieties. 

 

Our network is also drawing on tomato agrodiversity as a research tool, to better understand the varying nutritional content of different tomato varieties, the biochemical pathways and - notably - how these change across environmental conditions associated with climate change.

 

In the long-term, we aim to protect tomato genetic stocks as a globally-significant resource.  We believe these will be important responses to climate change, both for small-farmer and commercial production globally.

Nuestro diverso grupo de investigación incluye trabajo para proteger la agrodiversidad del tomate en semillas ex-situ y en colecciones de invernaderos vivos. Nuestros colaboradores también tienen programas para caracterizar los atributos agronómicos y el potencial de diferentes variedades de tomate.

 

Nuestra red también se basa en la agrodiversidad del tomate como herramienta de investigación, para comprender mejor el contenido nutricional de las diferentes variedades, las vías bioquímicas y, en particular, cómo estas cambian bajo diferentes condiciones ambientales asociadas con el cambio climático.

 

A largo plazo, nuestro objetivo es proteger el stock genéticas de tomate como un recurso globalmente significativo. Creemos que estas serán respuestas importantes al cambio climático, tanto para la producción comercial y de pequeños agricultores a nivel mundial.
